Busch Gardens Goes Over The Edge

Spring 2005

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay® has long been known as the ultimate in family adventure with it’s unparalleled combination of world-class animal habitats, thrill rides, and live entertainment.

This spring, Busch Gardens dives to a new level of excitement with SheiKra® – North America’s first dive coaster.

Opening May 2005, SheiKra sends riders through a breathtaking three-minute journey 200 feet up, then 90 degrees straight down at 70 miles per hour – and that's just the beginning.

The name SheiKra evokes the power and speed of an African hawk as it twists, turns and plunges – giving guests over-the edge excitement unrivaled by any coaster in the world.

SheiKra is the first dive coaster to incorporate an Immelmann loop (a simultaneous loop and roll), a second 90-degree, 138-foot drop into an underground tunnel and a stunning water feature, all packed into more than half a mile of steel track.

SheiKra will serve as the centerpiece of Busch Gardens’ newly themed Stanleyville area, which invites guests to discover the ruins of an ancient African civilization in the midst of a lush jungle.

The enhanced area will also include a new 500-seat, indoor/outdoor smokehouse restaurant situated on the coaster’s perimeter, allowing guests to feel the power of SheiKra as they dine.
