Busch Gardens Heats Up The Summer

Summer 2006

As the weather heats up, so does the excitement at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, just an hour’s drive from Orlando. Summer 2006, the 335-acre adventure park will be filled with world-class thrill rides, exotic animal encounters, and live entertainment, plus a full calendar of special events for the whole family.

SheiKra – America’s Only Dive Coaster – just celebrated its first birthday. Already a legend with coaster fans worldwide, SheiKra takes riders 200 feet up for a breathtaking view of the Tampa Bay area… right before diving a pulse-pounding 90 degrees at 70 mph. SheiKra soars above the skyline as the centerpiece of the newly themed Stanleyville area and dives over the roof of the Zambia Smokehouse. The new 500-seat restaurant, built in SheiKra’s shadow, lets guests hear the screams overhead as they feast on barbecue ribs, chicken, brisket, and a full selection of sides, salads, and desserts.

Through the end of July, Busch Gardens takes on a street-party atmosphere with an international flair during Summer Nights. Each night, the 335-acre adventure park is filled with the sights and sounds of acrobats, dancers, street performers, and other special entertainment, plus festive food and drink, ice-cold Anheuser Busch products, and the opportunity to challenge thrilling coasters in the dark.

And when you want to come back again and again to experience everything Busch Gardens has to offer, the park’s new Anytime ticket is revolutionizing the way to visit theme parks by offering unlimited admission and flexibility for the unbelievable value of a single-day admission. For those visiting Florida, the Anytime ticket allows for vacationers to “come and go” as they please for up to seven consecutive days with the purchase of any one-day ticket.

Just a hop, skip, and a splash away from Busch Gardens, Adventure Island cools down those hot summer days with 30 acres of Key West-themed thrills. This summer, Riptide – Florida’s first four-lane mat slide – races into Tampa’s only water park.

Riptide pits you against three other riders in a wild race to the finish. Grab your mat and get ready as you and your competitors are released simultaneously for a five-story plunge. You’ll dive through tubes and twist through a hairpin turn, then surge into four open-air lanes for a drenching finale.

Adventure Island’s tropical paradise features thrilling slides and tube rides like Wahoo Run, Aruba Tuba, Calypso Coaster, and the Gulf Scream. You can surf the 17,000-square-foot wave pool and serve up a game of volleyball on professional sand courts, or just kick back on the beach and let the current sweep you through a half-mile of lush landscapes and tropical waterfalls on the Rambling Bayou.
